Practical Networking

If you’ve been in the Network Engineering career field for any small amount of time, then you’ve probably been frustrated at how difficult it was to find articles and videos that were reliable, thorough, and understandable.
You found articles that were very entry level, that perhaps gave simple definitions but did not communicate enough to explain how technologies actually worked. You found articles that were overly detailed, that went into so much minutia that the original point would be lost.
The intent of the blog and video channel is to bridge that gap - providing the happy, practical medium between overly simplistic and overly detailed.
PracNet teaches in a manner that is accessible, easy to learn, and easy to pass on. By presenting complex technology simply, PracNet provides practical, immediately applicable, knowledge of the Network Engineering industry.

OSI Model Layer 5, 6, and 7 -- Session, Presentation, & Application Layers -- what they actually do
Plenty of attention is given to L1-L4 of the OSI model... but very little attention is given to the Session Layer, the Presentation Layer, and the Application layer (Layers 5, Layer 6, and Layer 7). That's led to a lot of bad information existing about these three errors. So I decided to create a video that explained how these three layers work, and how they contribute towards the goal of Networking: sending data between two computers.
This video can be considered a follow up to my first two videos on the OSI model:
OSI Model - Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 3

OSI Model - Layer 4, Layer 5/6/7, Encapsulation De-Encapsulation

HTTP vs HTML: Unveiling Network Protocols using Telnet
Просмотров 30 тыс.8 месяцев назад
At the surface, this video is about HTTP, HTML, and Telnet. But beneath that this video is actually a demonstration of how every Network Protocol works. A Connection is made via TCP or UDP, a request is sent, a response is received. We demonstration this with HTTP / HTML / Telnet, but this same sequence occurs with nearly all other protocols as well. In this demonstration, we show you exactly w...
TLS 1.3 Handshake - many CHANGES from prior versions!
Просмотров 15 тыс.Год назад
The TLS 1.3 Handshake changes significantly from the TLS 1.2 (and prior) handshake. In this video we discuss 4 major changes to the TLS handshake with the latest version: - TLS 1.3 Handshake is shorter, only one round trip (1RTT) - TLS 1.3 Handshake is mostly encrypted (everything except the Client Hello and the Server Hello) - TLS 1.3 Handshake encrypts the Client Certificate (as well as the S...
TLS 1.3 Cipher Suites - Here is what CHANGES!
Просмотров 11 тыс.Год назад
A Cipher suite is a selection of one specific protocol for four security services: Key Exchange, Authentication, Symmetric Encryption, and Hashing. In TLS 1.2 and prior, a single Cipher Suite selected a protocol for all four of these... in TLS 1.3, a Cipher Suite changes to only specify a protocol for two of these: Symmetric Encryption and Hashing. Here is what a Cipher Suite looks like in TLS ...

Thanks much for the free video.
A great thanks from bottom of my heart ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 I am glad to watch this video.
this is the best course i have ever come across. however its a bit expensive for people in other countries. Its totally worth it though if you priority is same as the contents of the course.
thank you, amazing explanation🤩🤩🤩
Glad to hear from you clarification on OSPF area type
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️ Lessons on OSPF
Marvelous ❤❤❤ Brother
Hello All - I will keep my comments short - this video series on subnetting is the most simple and gratifying that I have seen. All the others just confused me but @PracticalNetworking cleared the clutter and allowed me to master subnetting.
superb brother even a 3 year old child can understand this nice
Hands down the best subnetting series I have found. I am currently taking the CCNA course through Cisco and I have watched TONS of videos on subnetting over the last two months, and you nailed it my friend. I get it now. I am going to get your networking course as a companion to explain the information I don't understand in my class (which is plenty🙂). Thank you so much!
Thank you SO MUCH for this series!!! I have been struggling with this topic, and there are so many variations to the cheat sheets, but none of them were helping me. This series is the first time it truly clicked! I also greatly appreciate how you made it a point to say that the different ranges use different octets. Before now, it made no sense why the numbers were always placed in different octets.
Do you have any cources that you sell thru Udemy, Pluralsight or other platforms which are available for cheaper costs?
thanks for the Free videos.
GOD level explaination.
Very well explained.
Life saver 🛟
This is an awesome series. I'm learning a lot. Everything is grouped nicely. I feel like every concept is distinguishible from one another thanks to your teaching style. I've wanted to learn some networking for a long time and now I actually have to and I'm really happy that I found this. Feels really well thought through. Thank you!
Why all this? Can't they just enforce SSL connection at browser level for all websites?
Great explanation. Thank you for the hard work!
Thank you
Thank you
One of the best OSPF presentations. Very good commands of how the protocol works in general. Keep doing the same :)
This video series is awesome! Very clear and thorough. It helps a lot. thank you very much!
Hands down THE BEST explanation
Awesome tutorial
Hello, I came to these video series by chance and these are the best I have seen. I have a question about the cheat sheet though. It only goes as far as /128 for the Group Size. How do you solve for all 7 attributes when the target IP is 137.98.249.121/18?
you are the real king in networking boss. every single word makes sense. U deserve a billion likes for this playlist.
Thank you very much 🙏🏻
Thank you very much 🙏🏻
Thank you
I really appreciate your lessons that you have created.
I dont know how to and how much thank you. It is the best youtube video i've ever seen that explains everything so clearly.
I love this channel. I needed this explanation!! 👏🏻
Thank you so much for these videos! Was this course ever completed? I've finished Module 1 and don't know what I should move onto next.
I found your website and found the network fundamentals course outline. i just purchased the course and the only videos i see are the same free videos from your channel on module 1....Please tell me this is a mistake!?
sir what a content. 10 mns of a video will understand the whole concept of layer 2 and layer3
Thanks
Thanks
thanks
Unfortunately I guess I gotta go back and watch those videos befor I can dive in ospf
perfekt
Why would you want to have a native vlan?
Amazing video. Thank you.
It is so pleasurable watching your videos that can rate them as adult content😃 Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Hello there, can you please help me with OSI reference model practical video? Will really appreciate it
Great video! thanks to share
Fantastic explaination
Sir...do you have more widely distributed cources thru Udemy which can provide affordable cost? your course is the best in whatever i have come across to date. It has the right graphics, width and depth and perfectly explained.
very good explanation of networking simply and clearly to easily understand out-of-the-field personnel. Keep good work and best of luck
